OFFICIAL HOLIDAYS

The Consulate General of Haiti in New York will be closed on all official public holidays of the Republic of Haiti and on all official federal holidays of the United States, in addition to Saturdays and Sundays.

Haiti (National holidays)

  • January 1st – Independence Day & New Year’s Day

  • January 2nd – Ancestors’ Day

  • May 1st – Agriculture and Labor Day

  • May 18th – Flag and University Day

  • August 15th – Assumption of Mary

  • October 17th - Jean-Jacques Dessalines Day

  • November 1st – All Saints’ Day

  • November 2nd – All Souls’ Day

  • November 18th – Battle of Vertières Day

  • December 25th – Christmas Day

United States (Federal holidays)

  • January 1st – New Year’s Day

  • June 19th – Juneteenth National

  • July 4th – Independence Day

  • November 11th - Veterans Day

  • December 25th – Christmas Day

MOVABLE DATE HOLIDAYS

These holidays follow the liturgical calendar and therefore fall on different dates each year.

Haiti (National holidays)

  • Carnival Monday - Date varies (February or early March)

  • Carnival Tuesday (Mardi Gras) - Date varies

  • Ash Wednesday – Date Varies

  • Good Friday – Date varies (Friday before Easter Sunday)

United States (Federal holidays)

  • Martin Luther King Day – 3rd Monday in January

  • President's Day – 3rd Monday in Februrary

  • Memorial Day – Last Monday in May

  • Labor Day – 1st Monday in September

  • Columbus Day - 2nd Monday in October

  • Thanksgiving Day - 4th Thursday in November

Note: When a holiday falls on a weekend, the Consulate may observe the closure on the preceding Friday or the following Monday, in accordance with local regulations. Any such adjustments will be announced in advance.

For time-sensitive applications (passports, visas, legalizations and civil status documents), we recommend submitting your request well in advance of any holiday closures.
