For U.S.-born adults of Haitian parent(s) seeking a Haitian passport
Requirements of the Principal
Must appear in person at the Consulate offices
Must identify themselves with a valid passport (Haitian or American)
Provide specific details of the matter to be covered by the requested mandate
Note: For property sales or car sales, a copy of the relevant titles is generally required
Copy of National Identification Card (CIN) or Tax Identification Card (NIF) with first and last name of the attorney in Haiti
For foreign passports (usually presented by naturalized Haitians or Americans), mandate requests must be accompanied by a letter of intention
What is a Letter of Intention?
A Letter of Intention is simply a document prepared in advance, in French or English, where the taxpayer, in the form of a mandate, states that they authorize a specific person to act on their behalf in Haiti for a specific matter.
Document must be signed by the taxpayer in the presence of a notary in their jurisdiction
The notary's signature must then be submitted to a County Clerk for authentication
Important
Haitian authorities do not accept mandates that are not registered with the Consulates.
